It wan’t my intention to give this many prompts at once, especially if you are following along to write, but I had to work 3 twelve hour shift days in a row and then was busy yesterday. Life, right? It is safe to say that I did not write these poems yet and hope to catch up today if the universe allows. I have two meetings by phone, yoga, and my kid coming over for dinner so it may or may not get done. Anyhoo, here we go.
Day 4: Deborah (Hebrew) she was a prophet known for not taking commands from her husband which was not heard of in her time. She made sure she openly showed everyone her talents of judgment and poetry.
Day 5: Eir (Scandanavian) She is the goddess of mercy. She is known as a caring goddess who sits on the top of the hill Lyfjaberg and grants healing to any woman who can climb the hill to get to her.
Day 6: Feng Pho-Pho (China) rides a tiger as a steed and uses clouds for her roadway. On calm days, it is said that she collects all the winds in a bag she slings over her shoulder.
Day 7: Gatamdug (Mesopotamian) is the Mother goddess of the Tigris who is also a counselor to the kings and an interpreter of dreams.
I think there is some good ideas and imagery here to work with for poems so have fun with it! Do a little more research if a poem doesn’t come to you right away. Nothing wrong with a little extra history lesson.
Be kind. Write. Wonder. Be curious and discover new things. Support small press and local artists. Find a blade of sun out there and stand in it. We sure could use that warmth and light.
