Life is Improvisation
Under cosmic lights,
once bare floors
of white maple
are now covered
with scattered limbs
and colorful bodies.
Our wild minds
are plucked at random
and added to the brine
of something new
like golden petals
of safflower.
The piano fills the room
and my heart—my eyes close
feeling the spark
of heartbeats
out of time.
The minor chords strike
and your warm fingers
gently touch my Achilles heel.
I am learning to mine
your silence for the words
I can’t hear.
I am learning to find you
in all the spaces
that are unexpected.

Hey Aleathia, Wow this is beautiful! My fav part:
“I am learning to mine
your silence for the words I can’t hear.
I am learning to find you in all the spaces that are unexpected.”
Could this be about God, love, friendship, the self? And love this pic of you two!!! I love that you have eachother to share life with 🙏🏽♥️

It is actually about being in a loving relationship, something reciprocal in which I am not always seeking validation. With Chris having a trach, I am often listening to his breathing, watching how his body moves to understand things he might not say. Also, I was single for so long and adding another person to your bubble requires blending and understanding that the space is now not just mine, but ours together. I love that we have each other as well. Thank you for reading and commenting.
